3 Arrested, Handguns Recovered In Atlantic City Sweep

Members of the Atlantic City Police Department’s Special Investigations Section conducted two separate investigations that resulted in the recovery of two handguns and the arrest of three.

At 3:46 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 15, detectives detained a 16-year-old juvenile in the 600 block of north New York Avenue. He was found to be in possession of a handgun loaded with hollow point bullets, police said. He was taken into custody without incident and charged with weapons offenses.

At 8:22 p.m., Sergeant Darrin Lorady and Detectives Christopher Dodson and Eric Evans conducted an investigation as a result of information the detectives received concerning two males armed with handguns. Detectives observed the males, Nasir Morgan and a 17-year-old juvenile, in the 500 block of north New York Avenue and attempted to stop them.

Morgan discarded a handgun behind a dumpster, police said. The handgun was recovered and found to be fitted with a high capacity magazine. Morgan was also found in possession of approximately 22 grams suspected heroin and approximately $400 cash, police said. The juvenile was found in possession of approximately 10 grams of suspected heroin. Both males were taken into custody without incident.

Morgan, 19, of Atlantic City, was charged with multiple weapons and drug offenses. The 17-year-old was charged with drug possession.
